The Cannon-Fenske Routine viscometer is a rugged viscometer that works well if the liquid to be measured is transparent or translucent.
In general, if the meniscus (the curvature at the top of the liquid column) can be readily observed through a column of liquid 3-mm in diameter, the Cannon-Fenske Routine viscometer and other transparent-type viscometers (like BS/U-Tube viscometers) can be used.
Suitable for Lubricating, transformer and fuel oils.
Sample volume required 7 ml
Bath depth required: 203mm (8”)
Cannon Fenske Reverse Flow Viscometer :
Special reverse flow viscometers have been designed for testing opaque liquids.
Reverse flow viscometers wet the timing section of the viscometer capillary only during the actual measurement.
The Cannon-Fenske Opaque, Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm, and BS/IP/RF U-Tube viscometers are all reverse flow types.
Reverse flow viscometers must be cleaned, dried, and refilled before a repeat measurement can be made.
In contrast, other viscometer types commonly used to measure transparent liquids allow the same sample to be repeatedly drawn up into the capillary, permitting multiple measurements for verification.
Suitable for Lubricants, transformer, fuel oils and Pain industry.
Sample volume required : 12ml
Bath Depth required: 225mm (9”)
BS/U Type Viscometer :
It is used measure viscosity of Transparent Newtonian Liquid.
In general, if the meniscus (the curvature at the top of the liquid column) can be readily observed through a column of liquid 3-mm in diameter, the BS/U type and other transparent-type viscometers (like cannon Fenske routine viscometers) can be used.
Suitable for Chemical, fuel, lubricants and transformer oils.
Sample Volume Required: 7 ml (size A to C), 12 ml( Size D to F ) , 23ml ( size G to H).
Bath Depth Required : 280mm ( 11”)
U Tube Reverse Flow Viscometer :
Viscometers have been designed for testing opaque liquids.
Reverse flow viscometers wet the timing section of the viscometer capillary only during the actual measurement.
The Cannon-Fenske Opaque, Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm, and cannon Fenske reverse flow are all reverse flow types.
Reverse flow viscometers must be cleaned, dried, and refilled before a repeat measurement can be made.
In contrast, other viscometer types commonly used to measure transparent liquids allow the same sample to be repeatedly drawn up into the capillary, permitting multiple measurements for verification.
Sample Volume required : 7 ml
Bath depth required: 280mm (11”)
Suspended Level Shortened Form :
It is used to measure the viscosity of transparent Newtonian oils.
Unlike the Cannon-Fenske Routine viscometer, suspended level viscometers possess the same viscometer constant at all temperatures.
This property is advantageous when measurements are to be made at a number of different temperatures
Suitable for Lubricants, fuel and transformer oil especially at low temp.
Sample volume required : 11 ml
Bath depth required : 250mm ( 10”)
Suspended Level :
It is used to measure the viscosity of transparent Newtonian oils.
Unlike the Cannon-Fenske Routine viscometer, suspended level viscometers possess the same viscometer constant at all temperatures.
This property is advantageous when measurements are to be made at a number of different temperatures.
Suitable for Lubricants, paint industry.
Sample volume required : 11 ml
Bath depth required: 250mm (10”)
Ubbelhode :
The Ubbelhode viscometer and other suspended level viscometers are also used to measure transparent liquids.
Unlike the Cannon-Fenske Routine viscometer, suspended level viscometers possess the same viscometer constant at all temperatures.
This property is advantageous when measurements are to be made at a number of different temperatures.
